Russell Bewsell began working in speech recognition in 1998, a year before founding what would become Voice Recognition Australia. The company was incorporated in 2003 and has operated continuously since, growing to become the largest Dragon reseller in the Southern Hemisphere by customer volume and sales.

VRA is privately owned, Australian family owned, and headquartered in South East Queensland with a presence across most states.
